At UTILITY PRICE CHECK LTD, we believe business utility procurement should be straightforward, transparent and fair.
As a Third-Party Intermediary (“TPI”), our role is to assist businesses in reviewing their utility requirements, obtaining quotations from appropriate suppliers and making informed decisions about their contracts.
We are committed to operating in line with recognised principles of good practice for the business energy intermediary market and to treating our customers fairly throughout the procurement and renewal process.
UTILITY PRICE CHECK LTD — Company No. SC898389 — ICO Registration No. ZC223947 — ADR Membership: E3608
What is a TPI?
A Third-Party Intermediary is an organisation that acts between a business customer and utility suppliers.
Depending on the service requested, a TPI may obtain quotations, compare available products, negotiate commercial terms, assist with switching, communicate with suppliers and provide ongoing contract support.
Our objective is to give customers clear information so that they can decide whether a particular contract is suitable for their business.
Our Commitment to You
1. Clear and Honest Communication
We aim to communicate in plain and understandable language.
We will explain:
- who we are and the role we perform
- which utility service is being discussed
- which suppliers or providers have been approached where appropriate
- whether our comparison covers a selected panel of suppliers or a wider section of the market
- the important terms of an offer
- what service UTILITY PRICE CHECK LTD will provide to you
We will not knowingly provide misleading information or present an offer as covering the whole market where this is not the case.
2. Your Business, Your Decision
The final decision whether to accept a quotation or enter into a contract remains with you.
We aim to give you sufficient information and opportunity to consider the available options before making a commitment.
We will not knowingly:
- misrepresent the urgency of an offer
- claim that you must change supplier when this is not the case
- pretend to be your existing supplier
- conceal our role as an intermediary
- enter into a contract without the authority required to do so
If something is unclear, we encourage you to ask us to explain it before proceeding.
3. Transparent Quotations
Before you agree to an energy contract, we aim to make the important commercial terms clear.
Depending on the product, these may include:
- supplier
- electricity or gas product
- unit rate or rates
- standing charge
- contract duration
- proposed contract start date
- payment method
- renewal arrangements
- termination conditions
- any applicable early termination provisions
- other important conditions affecting the contract
Where applicable, we will also explain whether a quotation is fixed, variable, indexed or subject to other pricing arrangements.
Our aim is to enable you to understand what you are agreeing to rather than simply presenting a headline price.
4. Fair Supplier Comparison
We seek competitive quotations appropriate to the information and requirements supplied to us.
However, the number of suppliers able or willing to quote may vary depending on factors such as:
- business type
- credit profile
- consumption
- meter type
- location
- contract start date
- supplier eligibility criteria
- prevailing market conditions
We will not claim that a quotation is the cheapest in the entire market unless we have reasonable evidence supporting that statement.
Where we use a selected supplier panel rather than the whole market, we aim to make that clear.
5. Transparent Broker Remuneration
UTILITY PRICE CHECK LTD is a commercial business and may receive payment for arranging a utility contract.
Depending on the supplier and contract, our remuneration may take the form of:
- a commission included within the price of the contract
- an agreed fee
- a supplier payment
- another remuneration arrangement disclosed where applicable
Where commission is incorporated into the energy price, it may be calculated by reference to the customer’s consumption and the length of the contract.
We are committed to transparency about how we are paid.
Before you enter into a relevant energy contract, we will provide or facilitate the provision of information regarding our remuneration in accordance with applicable requirements.
If you would like further information about our commission or fee for a particular contract, please ask us.
6. No Unsubstantiated Savings Claims
Energy prices and commercial circumstances differ between businesses.
For this reason, we do not guarantee that every customer will make a particular percentage saving or that every quotation will be cheaper than every other offer available in the market.
Where we make a specific savings comparison, it should be based on identifiable information such as your current prices, renewal quotation or another reasonable comparison.
Our objective is to identify competitive options and explain them clearly so that you can make your own commercial decision.
7. Authority to Act on Your Behalf
In some circumstances we may ask you to provide a Letter of Authority (“LOA”).
An LOA enables us, within the authority granted to us, to communicate with relevant suppliers or industry parties and obtain information necessary to provide our service.
Depending on its wording, this may include obtaining information such as:
- existing supplier details
- contract dates
- consumption data
- MPAN or MPRN information
- meter information
- account information
- other relevant supply details
An LOA does not automatically give UTILITY PRICE CHECK LTD unrestricted authority to enter into contracts on your behalf.
We will act only within the authority granted to us.
8. Informed Contract Agreement
We want customers to understand the commercial commitment they are making before entering into a contract.
Before a contract is concluded, relevant information should be provided so that you can understand the principal terms of the offer.
Where a contract is arranged by telephone or electronically, we will follow the applicable supplier process and maintain appropriate records of the transaction where required.
If you do not understand a material term, ask us before agreeing to the contract.
9. Protection of Your Information
We take the protection of business and personal information seriously.
Personal information is processed in accordance with our Privacy Notice and applicable UK data protection requirements.
We use information for legitimate business purposes connected with services such as:
- preparing quotations
- communicating with suppliers
- managing applications
- supporting contracts
- dealing with enquiries
- managing renewals
- handling complaints
- meeting legal or regulatory obligations
We do not sell personal information as a consumer data product.
Where information needs to be shared with a supplier, retailer, service provider or another relevant organisation to provide the service you have requested, we will handle that information in accordance with our Privacy Notice.
For more information about how we use personal information, please refer to our Privacy Notice.
10. Appropriate Communications
We aim to communicate with customers in a professional and proportionate manner.
You can ask us to change your marketing preferences or stop using your personal information for direct marketing at any time.
Where you object to direct marketing, we will respect that request in accordance with applicable data protection and electronic marketing requirements.
Service communications that are necessary to administer an existing enquiry, quotation or contract may still be sent where there is an appropriate lawful reason for doing so.
11. Ongoing Contract and Renewal Support
Where this forms part of the service we provide, we may retain relevant contract expiry information and contact you before your contract is due for renewal.
This can allow sufficient time to:
- review your existing arrangements
- understand expected consumption
- obtain available quotations
- compare contract terms
- consider whether remaining with your existing supplier or moving to another provider is appropriate
We do not assume that changing supplier will always be the best option.
The decision remains yours.
12. Complaints and Independent Dispute Resolution
We take complaints seriously and aim to deal with them fairly, promptly and transparently.
If you are dissatisfied with the service provided by UTILITY PRICE CHECK LTD, please contact us so that we can investigate your concerns.

Our full process is explained in our Complaint Handling Procedure.
13. Customer Understanding
A good procurement process is not simply about obtaining a price.
It is important that you understand:
- who the supplier will be
- what you will pay
- how long the contract will last
- when the contract will start
- any important termination or renewal provisions
- what service we will provide
- how we may be remunerated
- what commitment you are making
If you are unsure about any of these matters, please ask us before agreeing to proceed.
We will be happy to clarify the information provided.
Our Standard
Our commitment is simple:
Be clear. Be transparent. Act within our authority. Protect customer information. Explain how we are paid. Give businesses sufficient information to make their own informed decisions.
We continually review our procedures to reflect applicable legal requirements, supplier requirements, recognised industry good practice and developments affecting Third-Party Intermediaries.
